Chelsea: 2014/15 Premier League Season Review and Betting Stats

Chelsea played great constantly throughout the season, which made them win the trophy for the 4th time. There were a few moments that will be remembered for years, like the return of the legend, Didier Drogba. He played several good games, but definitely not as good as some of the other Chelsea players. Eden Hazard was awarded the league’s player award in 2014/2015, while 4 more players (Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Matic and Costa) were made a part of the ideal Premier League team.

It seems the crucial thing Chelsea did for winning the Premier League title was bringing two players from Spain during the summer 2014. Mourinho brought Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona for € 33M and Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid for € 40M. Both of these players were fantastic – Diego Costa was the team’s top scorer with 20 goals to his name, while Cesc Fabregas had the highest number of assists.

Chelsea was the 2nd-best team by the number of goals, just behind Manchester City. Chelsea’s defense, on the other hand, was by far the best, especially on their turf. In total, Chelsea has allowed 32 goals, but at the Stamford Bridge, they conceded only 9 goals.

One of the reasons why Chelsea was so good at defending their net was the superb form of Thibaut Courtois, a 23-year-old Belgian goalie. Chelsea captain, John Terry has been playing at a high standard for years and the 2014/2015 season of the Premier League wasn’t any different. Same goes for Ivanovic and Cahill.

Eden Hazard was the absolute ruler of the Chelsea midfield in 2014/2015. He was awarded the Premier League Player of the Season award for amazing performances in almost every match. The playmaker scored 14 goals that season, which made him the number 2 Chelsea scorer, just behind Diego Costa. Apart from Hazard, Chelsea most influential midfielders were Fabregas and Nemanja Matic.
