William Hill #YourOdds

William Hill #YourOdds

William Hill’s #YourOdds innovation is taking bookmaking back to its roots it would seem. Many years ago, the onus would be on a punter to ask for odds on something they believed would happen. These days though, we are presented with the odds on selected evens first and then we make a choice.

Essentially, William Hill’s believe that this is their way of making your weird and wonderful betting predictions a reality and they are using social media to do it. The initiative is based on football bets, as these are the bets which cause more of a stir in-play during live events.

How Does It Work?

Punters are asked to present a scenario by tweeting @WilliamHill and giving details of the potential bet using #YourOdds. From there, a representative will attempt to give the punter a price on it happening meaning that even if a bet is not available in the shops or on the website, you may still be able to get on.

Your request will be referred to a William Hill trader, priced up if appropriate and added under the ‘#YourOdds’ section of the chosen event on the website. William Hill understandably can’t guarantee that they will price up every #YourOdds request they receive.

Is It Working?

This is definitely a great innovation. A quick look at this hashtag shows the various quirky bets football punters want to get on and Hill’s appear to be doing all they can to accommodate them. If a punter asks, for example for odds on a correct score, total number of corners and a certain player to get booked they will attempt to find a price. If the player in question is suspended, cannot play and the punter didn’t know, William Hill will reply with odds based on the rest of the bet without the player involved.

A real example of a #YourOdds request is:

Punter – “@WilliamHill #YourOdds can I have odds on Exeter to win, over 2 goals, both teams to score, over 2 cards and over 11 corners?”

William Hill – “#YourOdds are 13/2. Back that here:”

A link is then added to the tweet for the punter to click through immediately and place their bet.
