When two Spanish teams meet in the UEFA Champions League final, one of the teams has to be Barcelona. Or so goes the conventional wisdom. It is not happening, and Real Madrid is facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final at Lisbon. Barcelona, instead, hosts Getafe on this Saturday in their bid to keep alive even their remote chances of winning the La Liga.

Barcelona has completely lost their mojo. The team that once mesmerised the grounds across Europe is now a pale shadow of itself. That Getafe will fancy an upset against them speaks volumes about the current plight Barca is in. Getafe is fighting relegation. They are just two points away from the danger zone. Getafe’s record against Barcelona is poor, with just one win in the last 14 matches.

Their record at Camp Nou is even poorer, as they have not won at Barcelona in the last decade or so. Barcelona will be keen to keep that record intact, as they need to win their remaining chances to put pressure on Atletico and Real. They are second at the moment, four points behind Atletico and two points ahead of Real. But Real has a game in hand.

Neymar, Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique have not required from injury. What Barca looks forward is a facile win with a virtuoso performance from Lionel Messi. Getafe has a threatening attacking line-up. Their star striker Pedro León will be back in the squad after a suspension-forced lay-off.
