Chelsea-PSG betting preview
Two things happened after PSG’s home win over Chelsea in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals last week. Both the things potentially could turn out to be advantageous for Chelsea, despite the Blues have suffered a 3-1 defeat at Paris.
First, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, easily the go-to man for PSG, has been injured and ruled out of this fixture. Second, Chelsea’s go-to man of this season, Samuel Eto'o, has seemingly regained his fitness. He could start against PSG on this Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
Still, the backdrop remains the same. Chelsea will have to beat PSG by a two-goal margin. A 2-0 win would suffice, thanks to that away goal Eden Hazard managed in the first half. PSG did not show any jitters in the absence of Ibrahimovic in the weekend Ligue One game against Reims, as they strolled to a 3-0 win. Chelsea too had a good weekend at the EPL, as they brushed aside Stoke’s challenge with a 3-0 win, in which their winter arrival Mohamed Salah finally showed his class.
PSG have a good away record – both in the Ligue One and in the Champions League. The last time they lost a match was in the first week of December last year. They have travelled well across the continent, having scored big wins in Greece (against Olympiakos), Belgium (against Anderlecht) and Germany (against Bayer Leverkusen). Can they have an encore in England?
Chelsea have the squad to send PSG crashing out of the Champions League. Apart from Eto'o, Salah and Hazard, the team boasts of exceptional talents like Andre Schürrle, Willian, Oscar and Ramires. Hazard was rested against Stoke. He will be back in action against PSG.
The Parisian side is not exactly hand-braked by Ibrahimovic’s absence. The presence of Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Thiago Motta and Lucas Moura will ensure that they do not lack in star quotient either.
Chelsea-PSG Prediction
Chelsea have been a defence-first team all through the season. The time has come for them to make an attacking move. They are likely to win this match, but may not get the sufficient margin to go into the semi finals.
