Everton-Arsenal betting preview

Arsenal are on the brink of elimination from the English Premier League title race. If the team loses against Everton on this Sunday, it will be yet another glory-less season for Arsene Wenger and his band of men. However, a win here could ignite their title race. All their remaining matches after this are against supposedly weaker opponents. They can realistically dream of 15 more points from those five games. But the need of the hour is three points from Goodison Park.

Everton want a win more badly. They are fighting against Arsenal for the fourth position in the league. Even though Arsenal leads by four points, Everton has a game in hand. A win in this match would set things nicely for the Merseysiders. The problem for them is that the remaining games are not easy fixtures. Manchester City, Manchester United and Southampton await them in the remaining matches.

Furthermore, Everton’s recent record against the Gunners is dismal: no wins in the last 14 matches. There cannot be a better time than this to rectify the anomaly in the recent H2H stats.

Ross Barkley’s calf injury is a worry for Everton. Phil Jagielka and Steven Pienaar too are unlikely to start. But Romelu Lukaku is one man who can single-handedly destroy the Arsenal defence. With Kevin Mirallas and Leighton Baines bossing the midfield, this could turn out to be yet another horror show by the Gunners’ defenders.

The good news for Arsenal is that Aaron Ramsey returns to the first eleven. But three others who could have made a difference – Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, and Theo Walcott – are still in the injury list.

Everton-Arsenal Prediction

A draw will be a fair result, as there is nothing that gives an advantage to any one team in particular.
