Korea Republic-Algeria preview - World Cup 2014

In a low-profile match of Group H on this Sunday in World Cup 2014, Korea Republic faces Algeria. Both the teams came into the tournament with the lowest possible expectations. But impressive performances in the opening matches have kindled their hopes. South Korea got a point from their match against Russia, while Algeria narrowly failed to get something out of their fixture against Belgium. Both the teams managed to take lead against their much fancied opponents.

Korea Republic-Algeria Preview

When they come face to face, none of these teams will be thinking other than a win. A draw is not going to help either team. What they need is a win and three points from it. Korea especially will boost their chances of qualification with a win. Algeria too will retain good chances of advancing with a win.

South Korea is looking forward to play a fluid style of football, which keeps on changing based on the opponent’s game. Against Russia, their ploy of short passing and quick dribbling paid rich dividends. Algeria plays more of a direct football, with box-to-box attacking. Koreans are likely to adopt a different strategy against Algeria.

Players

Lee Keun-ho who scored against Russia will be a key striker again for South Korea. Kim Bo-Kyung will offer him solid support.

Algeria too will rely on their only goal-scorer from the first match, Sofiane Feghouli, for more goals. Saphir Taider is another striker who can fetch them more goals.

Korea Republic-Algeria Prediction

Korea Republic is the bookmakers’ favourites. But Algeria appears to have a killer instinct about them. Under 2.5 goals is the way to go.
