Despite their strong record, Liverpool have shown signs of defensive frailties at home. They won narrowly against Swansea 4-3. They also struggled to get past Sunderland in the midweek game a few days ago. However, the team has been at its fluent best away from home – dishing out big wins against strong teams.

Spurs’ recent form is not that great: three losses and two wins. They are coming into the match after two disappointing games against Chelsea and Arsenal. At least, they will be familiar with fast-paced counter attacks.

Spurs’ record at Anfield is historically bad. The team has scored just two wins in the last two decades. Even that is some kind of an improvement, as they have managed just one more win in the last century.

All the players in Liverpool’s starting eleven punch above their weight. Still, Luis Suárez, Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard are their key players. Tottenham must look for ways to stop this trio.

Spurs will be boosted by the return of Emmanuel Adebayor who has regained his fitness. Kyle Walker, Vlad Chiriches, Erik Lamela and Etienne Capoue are still unavailable due to injury.

Liverpool have struggled against teams that have a crowded defense. Tottenham aren't the kind of team that will adopt an overly defensive approach. But against Liverpool, such an approach just might work.
