PSG-Bayer Leverkusen betting preview

PSG-Bayer Leverkusen betting preview

Paris Saint Germain will look to wrap-up a comfortable pre-quarter win at home against a struggling Bayer Leverkusen in the second Champions League match on this Wednesday. The Parisian side has virtually killed off the significance of this match with a 4-0 away drubbing of the German side. Not even a die-hard Leverkusen support would believe his team can overhaul this deficit.

Leverkusen had been playing purposeful soccer till December 2013. But since then, they have suffered defeats after defeats. In the Bundesliga alone, they lost six of the last nine matches. Their coach Sami Hyypiä’s hold in the team is gradually deteriorating. And there are reports of infighting. PSG must thank their stars for getting Leverkusen in the draw.

The reigning French champions are on a terrific run. They are tightening their grip on the Ligue One crown. If not for Bayern Munich’s out-of-this-world performances, they would have been a hot favourite to win the Champions League crown.

Edinson Cavani’s injury is a worry for PSG. But their other striker stalwarts, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi, have been in fine touch. Ibrahimovic, in particular, appears to be in the mood to score more outrageous goals.

All the key men in Leverkusen’s attack are fit. Stefan Kießling, Sidney Sam, Heung-Min Son and Gonzalo Castro will have to regain their collective rhythm if Leverkusen is to make at least an attempt to win by the required margin.

PSG-Bayer Leverkusen Prediction

Leverkusen will find it hard to stop PSG on current form. Their only chance of win would be if PSG players take this game easy and become complacent, which is highly unlikely at this level.
