Schalke 04-Hertha BSC betting preview
With Bayern Munich clinching the Bundesliga crown with ridiculous ease, the only interests remaining in the league are who are going to clinch the Champions League berths and, of course, who are going to get relegated. Schalke is one of the teams vying for the UEFA berth. The team is third at the moment, one point away from the second-placed Dortmund. A win in this match would put pressure on Dortmund, who is playing away at Stuttgart.
While Schalke 04 is eager to grab a continental spot, the Berlin outfit is in no position to aspire for any such achievements. The team is ninth in the league, comfortably away from the relegation zone. They have been going through a lean patch – two wins, two draws and six defeats in 2014.
This is in stark contrast to their opponent’s great run in 2014. Schalke has lost just one match in the year – that too against Bayern Munich. They are poised to overtake Dortmund to finish second in the league.
The H2H record too favours Schalke. They have won nine of the last ten matches against Hertha Berlin. It was in 2004 that Hertha last scored an away win against Schalke.
Jefferson Farfan has not recovered from injury. That would mean Schalke will field the in-form attacking duo of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Julian Draxler. Kevin-Prince Boateng and Maximilian Meyer will man the midfield.
Adrián Ramos, as always, will be the key for Hertha. Sami Allagui’s injury is a major worry for them.
