Juventus-Benfica betting preview

Juventus-Benfica betting preview

Juventus face a difficult, but not impossible, task of beating Benfica by a two-goal margin. The circumstances are stacked in favour of them. They are playing at home, all their regular starters are fit, and they have recovered from the last week’s defeat against the Portuguese powerhouses with a win over Sassuolo in the weekend. They have almost ensured the Serie A crown with that win. Now, the Europa crown is at stakes on this Thursday, when they take on Benfica in the second leg of the Europa League semi finals.

The football world already received a shock news of 4-0 defeat of Bayern Munich at the hand of Real Madrid. If Benfica beats Juventus in the second leg, it will not be an upset of similar proportions. But within Italy, it is likely to be treated as a national affront.

In Juventus, they see the torch bearer of the high standards of Italian football. A Benfica win is going to be considered as Portuguese football’s win over Italian soccer.

No one outside Italy will be shocked if Benfica pulls of a win, though. The team has clinched the Portuguese Liga Sagres crown last week. After their win in the first leg, the fans have already started about winning a double.

Juventus have declared that Arturo Vidal is fit and he will play against Benfica. The team will want him to for a resurgent attack along with Carlos Tevez and Paul Pogba.

Benfica will miss midfielders Ljubomir Fejsa and Andre Gomes. Eduardo Salvio is injured too, but he may play on Thursday.

Juve may suffer the same fate of Bayern Munich. Benfica are not as great as Real Madrid in counter attacking. But they are not far behind either.
