What Is a Double Bet?

A double bet combines two selections from two separate events into a single bet. Both selections need to win — if either one loses, the whole bet loses. In exchange for that extra risk, your odds multiply together, so the potential return is bigger than betting on either selection alone.

Bet Type Selections Bet Lines
Single 1 1
Double 2 1

A double is still just 1 bet line — it's the odds that combine, not the number of bets. Compare that to a Trixie (3 selections, 4 bet lines) once you're combining more than two picks. See our full bet calculator for every bet type.

How Does the Double Bet Calculator Work?

The formula multiplies both sets of decimal odds together, then applies your stake:

  • Combined Odds = Odds 1 × Odds 2
  • Return = Stake × Combined Odds
  • Profit = Return − Stake

Enter both legs' odds — fractional or decimal — and your stake, and the calculator does the multiplication for you. No manual working out, no rounding mistakes.

Each Way Double Bet Calculator

An each way double splits your stake into a win double and a place double. Both legs need to win for the win double to pay out, and both need to at least place for the place double to pay out. Tick the E/W box and enter your each way terms — the calculator works out both parts separately.

Example Calculation

£10 double on two football teams: Team A at 2/1 (decimal 3.00) and Team B at 6/4 (decimal 2.50):

  • Combined odds: 3.00 × 2.50 = 7.50
  • Return: £10 × 7.50 = £75
  • Profit: £75 − £10 = £65

Frequently Asked Questions About the Double Bet Calculator

Is a double bet calculator free to use?

Yes. Every calculator on this site, including the double bet calculator, is completely free — no account or sign-up needed.

Do both selections have to be in the same event?

No. A double combines two selections from two different events — for example, one football match and one horse race. Both still need to win.

Is a double bet calculator the same as a double chance bet calculator?

No — a double chance bet is a completely different, single-selection bet that covers two of three possible outcomes in one match (e.g. home win or draw). This calculator is for a double, where two separate selections are combined into one bet.
