What Is a Trixie Bet?
A Trixie takes 3 selections and turns them into 4 separate bets: 3 doubles (every possible pairing of your 3 picks) plus 1 treble (all 3 together). Because it includes the doubles, you don't need all 3 selections to win — 2 out of 3 is enough to get a return, unlike a straight treble where one loser wipes out the whole thing.
| Bet Type | Selections | Bet Lines |
|---|---|---|
| Treble | 3 | 1 |
| Trixie | 3 | 4 |
| Patent | 3 | 7 |
A Trixie costs 4x your unit stake (no singles included), while a Patent costs 7x (adds 3 singles for even more cover). See our full bet calculator for every bet type.
How Does the Trixie Bet Calculator Work?
The calculator builds all 4 bet lines from your 3 selections and totals the stake and return across them:
- 3 Doubles — every pair of your 3 selections
- 1 Treble — all 3 selections combined
- Total Stake = Unit Stake × 4
Enter your 3 sets of odds — fractional or decimal — and your unit stake, and the calculator works out every combination for you.
Total Stake by Unit Stake
| Unit Stake | Total Stake (4 lines) |
|---|---|
| £1 | £4 |
| £5 | £20 |
| £10 | £40 |
Each Way Trixie Bet Calculator
An each way Trixie doubles the total stake, since it runs a win Trixie and a place Trixie side by side. Tick the E/W box and enter your each way terms — the calculator works out both parts separately, then shows the combined return.
Example Calculation
3 selections at 2/1 (3.00), 3/1 (4.00) and 4/1 (5.00), £1 unit stake (£4 total):
- 3 doubles: (3.00×4.00) + (3.00×5.00) + (4.00×5.00) = 12 + 15 + 20 = £47
- 1 treble: 3.00 × 4.00 × 5.00 = £60
- Return if all 3 win: £107 (£103 profit on £4 staked)
FAQs
Is a Trixie bet calculator free to use?
Yes. Every calculator on this site, including the Trixie bet calculator, is completely free — no account or sign-up needed.
How many winners do I need for a Trixie to pay out?
At least 2 of your 3 selections. With exactly 2 winners, you get a return from the one double that landed. With 1 winner or fewer, the whole bet returns nothing.
What's the difference between a Trixie and a Patent?
Both use 3 selections. A Trixie is 4 bet lines (no singles) and needs 2 winners minimum. A Patent is 7 bet lines (adds 3 singles), so even 1 winner returns something — at a higher total stake. Use our Patent calculator to compare the two.
