AS Roma started the 2014/2015 Serie A season in the fifth gear, but a series of draws during winter, made this team lose the battle to Juventus. At the end, Roma finished far behind Juve, but managed to take the 2nd place. Lazio had breathing by Roma’s neck all the time, so the last couple of rounds were very intense. The match between these two teams, played in late May decided the number 2 place on the Serie A table. Lazio was the host, but AS Roma managed to win 2-1.
Roma changed their squad significantly, compared to the 2013/2014 season. In summer 2014, they sold Benatia to Bayern and Dodo to Inter, getting a lot of money for new signings. Their two biggest signings that year were Radja Nainggolan and Juan Iturbe. In January 2015, Roma went again to shopping and brought Yanga-Mbiwa, Doumbia and Ibarbo.
In the first half of the season, AS Roma were amazing in the attack, but in 2015, they scored much less. In total, Roma scored 54 times, mostly thanks to Totti and Ljajic, who were team’s best scorers, each with 8 goals. The player who is sharing the first place for the number of assists in the league is Roma’s playmaker, Miralem Pjanic. This was his best season so far in Italy and the match he’ll remember the whole life is the one with Napoli when his goal brought Roma all 3 points.
